Almost 40 years after the hit series ended, Dad's Army is back, but this time it's on the big screen.
The film's star-studded cast hit the red carpet in London for the world premiere today, along with some of the series' original names.
The classic British comedy ran from 1968 to 1977. Now in its new version, Catherine Zeta-Jones plays glamorous journalist Rose Winters, while Ian Lavender -- who played Private Pike in the original series -- returns for the film, but in a different role, as a brigadier.
Blake Harrison is cast as the famously flat-footed young soldier, but admits he didn't ask the veteran actor for advice on the character.
"It's very important that none of us are doing cardboard copies of the characters that we already know; it's our own interpretation of that character so their essence is very much still the same -- he's very much a stupid boy," says Harrison.
Dad's Army will be in New Zealand cinemas from February 18.
