High-profile Hollywood actor Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has drawn on his "warrior mana" for a haka scene in the upcoming eighth instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise.
In a post on Instagram, the former wrestler said the scene is the most "real and authentic" part of the entire film, and required "no acting".
The scene sees Johnson's character in the blockbuster, Luke Hobbs, lead his daughter's football team in a haka with scores tied and two minutes to go in their championship game.
"As their coach, I ask them to dig deep and harness their warrior mana one last time, but before they take the field, we will perform our haka to our opponent," he said.
Johnson has Polynesian ancestry, and promises that watching the haka in cinemas will be a hair-raising experience for viewers.
"[It's] a pre-battle ritual where we call upon the recognition of our ancestors and to give us strength. And if need be, we are prepared to die today, only because we have lived greatly and proudly as people," Johnson said of the haka's cultural significance.
The Rock explained that he had to tell the film's director Felix Gary Gray to "be prepared for anything" from him.
"I might cry, yell, speak with only my eyes and definitely give me space after every take. The haka brings out our mana, our spirit."
Fast and Furious 8 is set to be released on April 12 next year.
