Comedian Rose Matafeo has locked horns with Pebbles Hooper on Twitter after the social media provocateur mocked Parris Goebel.

In a tweet that teased both the celebrated dance choreographer and her own former colleagues, Hooper stated: "Someone at the herald needs to check their online fashion person, I think they've gone blind after calling Parris Goebal best dressed."

Goebel was wearing a Pasifika-style dress at the MTV VMAs, which she explained on Instagram as "representing my family, my country, my culture and everyone that believes in me."

She brushed off Hooper's attack with a thank you and a smiley face, before Matafeo added: "How r u still low key racist?"

Hooper did not take it well.

She responded to Matafeo with a string of outraged tweets, labelling her a "bitch", a "f**king leach" and "the world's unfunniest human".

Hooper caused outrage last year by ridiculing a mother and her three young children after they tragically died from carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of leaving a car running in their garage.

The daughter of fashion designers Francis Hooper and Denise L'Estrange-Corbet lost her job at NZ Herald's gossip magazine Spy over the controversy, and also briefly deleted her Twitter account.

However, she has since resurrected her social media presence and continues to use it to rile people up the wrong way.

One of her attacks on Matafeo over the last 24 hours in particular could also be considered highly troublesome:

Paul Williams, brother of TV3 comedian Guy Williams, also weighed in on the bickering, although his interacting with Hooper was more civil.

Matafeo responded to some of the attacks explaining her position more clearly, however Hooper still appears to be bitter over it and has not relented.
