Kiwi pop star Stan Walker has postponed his upcoming tour after his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.
In an emotional video posted to his Facebook page, the singer says it's a "hard time" for his family and apologises to his fans.
"New Zealand, I'm so sorry about this, I have to cancel the tour for now. I have to postpone it, I will tour next year," says Walker.
"The reason why I'm postponing the tour is I need to be with my mum at the moment. We've just found out that she's got breast cancer. I just want to be with my family, look after my mum.
"My mum is my world. She's the queen of all of our lives. We're just praying for the best for her."
The Australian Idol winner was scheduled to perform ten dates in November, starting in Invercargill and ending in Auckland.
Walker says his mother wanted him to perform the tour despite her sickness, but he simply could not.
"If I could ask for anything [of my fans], it would be that you pray for my mum," says Walker.
"If you could please respect our privacy as well. I didn't even want to do this video, I think it's stupid. But we would rather, as a family, it came from us."
While Walker does intend to complete the tour in the future, due to the uncertainty full ticket refunds are being offered at the point of purchase.
