Netball star Maria Tutaia has hit out at the "gutter journalists" at Woman's Day over a story the magazine published about her engagement to Australian rugby player Israel Folau.
The Silver Ferns ace took to Twitter and Instagram to attack the "made up" story, which she says is highly inaccurate.
"I can't believe after working with for years and after specifically being told in writing we wanted to keep things private, they chose to make up a story stuck together with old photos and full of inaccuracies and guesses," Tutaia writes.
She added the hashtags: #britishtabloid, #gutterjournalism and #disappointed to the Instagram post, which she shared on Twitter with angry emojis.
Tutaia and Folau, a key player for the current Wallabies side and a former NRL star, announced their engagement on October 23 after making their relationship public in February this year.
Woman's Day claims the proposal happened by a duck pond in the Auckland Domain, where Folau gave Tutaia a $20,000 Stefano Canturi ring.
