Donald Trump's used to getting what he wants, but it doesn't always pan out.
Hollywood actress Emma Thompson has revealed he once asked her out, offering her "accommodation" in one his "comfortable" towers.
Talking to Swedish public broadcaster SVT, the Sense and Sensibility star made the revelation during a chat about the US President.
"He asked me out once. You wanna hear?" she teased.
"Come on," replied the host.
"This wasn't in the pre-interview plan," Thompson laughs, before telling the story.
It was the late 1990s and she was filming Primary Colors, a movie inspired by Bill Clinton's first run for President in 1992. She'd separated from fellow actor Kenneth Branagh a few years earlier, and the divorce papers had just come through.
"The phone rings in my trailer, which it's never done before, so it's like a moose had just entered my trailer," she explains.
"I lift up the phone, 'Hi, it's Donald Trump here.' I said, 'Really? Can I help you?'
"He said, 'I wonder if I could offer you some accommodation in one of my Trump Towers, they're really comfortable.'"
Thompson says she was confused, before he hinted at his real intentions.
"'I think we would get on very well - maybe we could have dinner some time'," Thompson quoted Trump as saying.
"I didn't know what to do with myself. I was on my own and I just said, 'Erm, I'll get back to you.'"
She never did, and despite being married to actor and producer Greg Wise since 2003, says she kind of regrets not taking Trump up on his offer.
"I wish I had - think of the stories!"
