Tom Cruise is set to return to New Zealand this year to film the sixth Mission: Impossible film.
The Top Gun star has been training for a year for a spectacular stunt in the sequel, which will also film on location in Paris and London.
Mission: Impossible production company Skydance Media's CEO David Ellison broke the news to Collider at the South by Southwest festival, also revealing Christopher McQuarrie will return as director after the last film, Rogue Nation.
Paramount Pictures NZ, distributor of the Mission: Impossible franchise in New Zealand, gave no comment.
Cruise spent time in Taranaki while filming The Last Samurai, which was released in 2003.
During his time here, he famously changed a stranger's tyre on a countryside road, was a fan of local fast food and had women flash their bare breasts at his helicopter.
"I'm going to miss the fish and chips, we're going to miss our Friday night McDonald's, you know, we are going to miss the beach at night," he told media shortly before boarding a private jet and leaving.
Mission: Impossible 6 was reportedly delayed as Cruise negotiated a higher fee, but is now set to start filming on April 10, according to Ellison.
