The organisers of a luxury music festival-turned-fiasco in the Bahamas have released a statement saying the disaster was a "very challenging day".
Fyre Festival had been promoted as "the unparalleled best in music, cuisine, design and hospitality". But instead it fell apart, being compared to The Hunger Games and refugee camps, leaving co-organiser Ja Rule "heartbroken".
In a statement on their website, the organisers said the team was "overwhelmed" and it resulted in "an unacceptable guest experience".
They said they decided to "postpone the festival", despite a number of attendees already having arrived on the remote island.
The organisers said they've received a lot of support from the music community and have been left "humbled and inspired by this experience".
Attendees, who paid up to US$12,000 to attend, told media there was no running water and tents for housing, which were only half-built.
The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism said there was "total disorganisation and chaos".
"The event organisers assured us that all measures were taken to ensure a safe and successful event, but clearly they did not have the capacity to execute an event of this scale."
Once the festival was officially "postponed", evacuations began.
But rest assured, there will be a Fyre Festival 2018.
Attendees from this year have been promised a full refund as well as free VIP passes to next year's event.
"We apologise for any inconvenience the past 24 hours has caused, and we look forward to making a considerable donation to the Bahamas Red Cross Society as part of our initiatives," the organisers said.
"We need to make this right. And once we make this right, then we will put on the dream festival we sought to have since the inception of Fyre."
