The name of the next film in the new Star Wars franchise has drawn plenty of interest from fans of the franchise - but now the director has moved to make it a little clearer who 'the last Jedi' is truly referring to.
Confusion cropped up because, at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens - the previous film in the series - Rey (Daisy Ridley) has started to display Jedi abilities and meets with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), who is already a Jedi.

There was also speculation on whether Jedi - which can be used to describe an individual or a group - may be referring to both of the characters, rather than simply one or the other.
In an interview with Good Morning America, director Rian Johnson explained that he had no idea that the name of the film would attract so much curiosity.
"It's so funny, when people started asking [if it's singular or plural], when the title was announced because I had never even pondered that question," he explained.
"That seems like, to me, the most uninteresting [question], I guess."
But Johnson later revealed that 'the last Jedi' was a singular term - and that the title belonged to Luke Skywalker.
"In my mind it is singular," he said.
"I mean, they say in The Force Awakens that he's going to find the last Jedi temple, and [Luke Skywalker] is the last Jedi."
Mark Hamill, who plays Luke, has recently raised fears that he would be joining the ranks of his Darth Vader's Sith Empire when he said "it's possible" that his character turns to the Dark Side at a recent convention.
The claim must be taken with a grain of salt, as Hamill has a history of trolling fans of the franchise - not least of all when he convinced a swathe of Star Wars nuts that he was the father of Finn (John Boyega) in the films.
Hamill said his claim probably wouldn't be taken seriously this time as he had "lost credibility with the public through social media because I lie all the time", and labelling himself "the boy who cried wolf - nobody believes me".
A new trailer and poster for Star Wars: The Last Jedi was revealed on Saturday (NZ time), with the film likely to be released in December this year.
