Stranger Things star Shannon Purser has announced she is bisexual, after a series of tweets debating the pressure of defining your sexuality.
The Riverdale actress got involved in a Twitter fight with a fan about a kiss between two female members of the show, Veronica and Betty. Purser wrote to fans of the show who advocated the pair get together that "ships are great, being horrible to people who don't ship your ship is not".
'Shipping', taken from the word 'relationship', refers to fantasies, stories and art created by fans who want two characters to be involved romantically.
A few hours later, Purser shared a longer note about her own sexuality, coming out as bisexual and also admitting that she's new to this knowledge and the queer community.
"I have never heard the term the term 'queerbaiting' in my life until today," she wrote.
"That being said, I have never ever wanted to alienate anyone and my tweet was thoughtless.
"Either way, it wasn't a wise or kind thing to say and I'm disappointed in myself, especially as a Christian who has always been taught to speak love to others. Thank you to all the people who kindly reached out to me and educated me about the reality your feelings about queerbaiting and I apologize to those who were hurt."
Known for the iconic role of Barb on Stranger Things, and more recently as Ethel Muggs on Riverdale, the actress is also known for being incredibly candid with her fans on Twitter.
Earlier in the month, the religious starlet tweeted that "getting comfortable with your sexuality is a process", especially as a Christian.
