The trailer for Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok racked up more than 136 million views in 24 hours - setting a new record for Disney.
Released on Tuesday morning, the trailer beat the previous records of Beauty and the Beast (128 million) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens (112 million).
Waititi took to Facebook to celebrate the record, joking that his own mother was responsible for at least 100 million views alone.
The Thor: Ragnarok trailer was met with seemingly universal positivity, with many praising its comedic moments in particular.
Waititi has been active on social media since the trailer's debut, responding to various messages about it in his usual self-deprecating style.
In one particularly topical tweet, the Boy filmmaker joked that he didn't have to try hard to 'win' social media yesterday as his main competition was the United Airlines forced passenger removal controversy.
Thor: Ragnarok is set for release in October.
