New Zealand actor Cliff Curtis has reportedly landed a major role in all four upcoming Avatar sequels.
The Whale Rider star will play a "lead character" in the James Cameron films, according to NZME.
Producer Jon Landau broke the news, adding that Curtis is "a great person".
"[He is] a shining example of the extraordinary creative talents from New Zealand's film community that have drawn us to produce our films in the country," says Landau.
Avatar remains the highest-grossing film of all time following its release in 2009, hauling in over NZ$4 billion at the global box office.
The long in development sequels have been delayed several times and now the first is scheduled for release in 2020.
It's not the first "Avatar" movie for Curtis, as he starred in 2010 film The Last Airbender - an adaptation of the Avatar animated TV show, a separate intellectual property.
