Kiwi popstar Lorde has opened up about her break-up with long-term boyfriend James Lowe, admitting she went to "crazy places" in the aftermath.
"There was an element of escapism and exploration and wanting to be myself in strange situations and see what happens," she told the Daily Telegraph's Stellar magazine.
Her experiences turned to music, to be released next Friday in her upcoming album Melodrama - including a song named 'Sober'.
Lorde admitted she was "probably" self-medicating with alcohol after the break-up, according to Stellar.
She also confessed in true Kiwi style, she's often the one encouraging her fellow friends to keep drinking when they want to stop.
"I definitely inspire people to keep drinking," she said.
"I am like, 'Come on!'."
Melodrama is Lorde's second album, following her smash hit Pure Heroine in 2013.
