'Manchester, we're strong' - benefit concert's message of defiance

  • 05/06/2017

Thousands have joined Robbie Williams in an adapted rendition of his hit single 'Strong' at a benefit concert in Manchester, in honour of those affected by a terror attack there two weeks ago.

Williams, one of a swathe of artists performing on Sunday evening (local time), performed the altered version of the song less than two weeks after a suicide bomb attack killed 22 people at Ariana Grande's Manchester Arena show.

The line from the song, 'You think that I'm strong, you're wrong - I'll sing my song' was changed to 'Manchester, we're strong - we're still singing our song'.

Thousands gathered at the show joined Williams in the sing-along, with some reduced to tears as they remembered those who'd lost their lives, and the dozens who remain in hospital following the attack.

Other acts performing at the concert included Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus.

All proceeds from the show will go to the British Red Cross for its Manchester Emergency Fund, which can be donated at here.
