A morning radio host has spoken out about the painful struggles of miscarriage, after his wife announced her pregnancy on air.
The Rock Morning Rumble host Bryce Casey took to the airwaves to share his own announcement on Wednesday morning, after his wife, Edge host Sharyn Casey, announced her pregnancy during her afternoon radio show on Tuesday.
The pair is now 15 weeks pregnant, after experiencing three miscarriages.
"My wife announced it yesterday…I have procreated. There's a baby on the way," Casey said on Wednesday, to applause from his co-hosts.
"It's an exciting thing to be able to say. I've wanted to shout it from the rooftops from the moment I knew."
Casey also spoke about the three painful miscarriages he and Sharyn had experienced in the past, saying he's learnt to "be mindful of people who may not be on as good a journey".
"You spend the whole youth of your life trying to avoid [pregnancy] …when you try and make one it can be really hard".
Their last pregnancy had even gotten as far as a sonogram, before they lost it.
"You're seeing this heartbeat and its magic; it's one of the best things I've ever seen in my life, and then slowly a week or two later that heartbeat faded out. It's heartbreaking."
"Miscarriages are one of those things that never get talked about…it can be quite lonely."
