Quentin Tarantino is reportedly keen for Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence to star in his next film, which will recount the notorious Manson Family murders.
The filmmaker is said to be finalising the script of the untitled new project, according to the Hollywood Reporter, which would be his ninth film and first since 2015's The Hateful Eight.
Tarantino has not previously made a film based on true events.
The infamous 1969 killings were carried out by four members of Charles Manson's cult, who invaded the home of celebrity couple Sharon Tate and director Roman Polanski in Los Angeles.
Over the course of several hours, the four used guns and knives to brutally murder Tate - who was eight months pregnant - and four visitors.
Filming is set to take place next year, according to the report.
In 2014, Tarantino said he was going to retire from filmmaking after his 10th movie, then potentially move into making television.
