Few movie voices of the last few decades are as recognisable as Gollum's, the menacing cave-dweller portrayed by Andy Serkis in Sir Peter Jackson's films.
The actor put that voice to comedic use on the Late Show this week by reading out notable tweets from the current US President Donald Trump.
Serkis appeared on the show to promote War for the Planet of the Apes, which has just opened in New Zealand cinemas.
Late Show host Stephen Colbert is a JRR Tolkien mega fan and couldn't resist asking for an impromptu performance from the man who brought Gollum to life in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies.
Serkis leapt onto his chair, impersonating the grey-skinned fish eater, and adopted his distinctive speech style to parrot typical Mr Trump thoughts on things like "fake news" and "covfefe".
The crowd erupted into laughter, giving the biggest response of the segment, which also included Serkis discussing the evolution of his character Caesar from the Planet of the Apes films and presenting a video highlighting the motion-capture process.
