Leonardo DiCaprio is being eyed-up for a new film which tells the story of Batman's nemesis.
The Hollywood Reporter says the star is wanted to play the character of a crime boss in the Joker origin movie.
Since the announcement by Warner Bros last week, it has emerged the company is hoping that by bringing on legendary filmmaker, Martin Scorcese, his close friend DiCaprio will be convinced to get on board too.
The pair have made five successful films together: The Aviator, Gangs of New York, The Departed, Shutter Island and The Wolf of Wall Street.
However, DiCaprio has in the past refused to act in franchise pictures.
Whether Scorcese will enter the Gotham underworld is still uncertain - the producer is yet to sign any contract.
