Kiwi songstress Lorde has captured the hearts of her Australian fanbase with a teary tribute for our trans-Tasman neighbours' 'Yes' vote for gay marriage.
Australia voted overwhelmingly in favour of legalising same-sex marriage earlier this month, and Lorde addressed the survey result in her show at Sydney's Opera House on Tuesday night.

"Congrats on passing same-sex marriage, by the way!" she said, to rapturous applause from the audience.
She was then given a rainbow flag from someone in the crowd, drawing an even louder showing of appreciation from her adoring crowd.
Lorde, who performed in New Zealand just a week ago, followed that with an impromptu rendition of Whitney Houston's 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody', presumably as it shared the same chords as her own 'Liability'.
"I'm very proud of you," she said upon finishing, clearly feeling emotional as she looked into the audience.
"You look like you're gonna cry!" someone can be heard yelling, prompting a laugh from Lorde.
"This is the crying show - I don't know if you know that," she responded.
Lorde plays three more shows in Australia this week before taking a break from touring until March 2018.
