A circus is suing Kid Rock for using its slogan unlawfully.
Feld Entertainment, the company that owns the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus, has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against the singer.
Rock announced his 2018 US tour would be called the "Greatest Show on Earth" - a phrase that the Ringling Bros circus has long used in its advertising.
In the lawsuit, which was filed on December 22, Feld Entertainment said that Rock and his ticketing company, Live Nation Entertainment, were not authorised to use the slogan.
"This historic trademark has been an important part of Ringling Bros for the past century, and it is recognised as a trusted and iconic brand of family-friendly entertainment," CEO of Feld Entertainment Kenneth Feld said in a statement.
"We have no intention of surrendering the trademark or allowing it to be tarnished."
Feld Entertainment said the company had a list of authorised licensees who could use the slogan, but "Kid Rock is not one of them".
The lawsuit demands that Rock immediately stop using the slogan.
The Ringling Bros circus came to an end in May 2017 after 146 years of touring. Ticket sales were affected by the circus' decision to stop using elephants in its performances.
