Hunt for the Wilderpeople star Neil is the voice behind Pete the kiwi, a CGI version of New Zealand's most iconic bird.
He joins Aussie actor Bryan Brown, who returns as Dave the goose to demonstrate why Australians should fly with the airline.
The campaign is called 'Better Way to Fly', and aims to get more Aussies travelling on Air NZ flights to North and South America.
Air New Zealand global brand and content marketing general manager Jodi Williams says Aussies have already grown to love Brown's Dave the goose, and Neil's Pete the kiwi is sure to be a hit.
"When the long-standing friends got together again in the recording studio to debut Sam's version of Pete the Kiwi, their shared sense of humour produced some great comic moments," she said.
The airline, which was voted the world's best for 2017 by Conde Nast, has become known for its creative videos. Previous safety videos have starred Katie Holmes, Cuba Gooding Jr, Richard Simmons and Rhys Darby.
