Ellen DeGeneres has posted an emotional tribute to her father after a difficult week where she was evacuated from her home and her father died.
DeGeneres, 59, and her wife Portia Di Rossi, 44, were evacuated from their home in Montecito on Sunday as deadly mudslides cause immense damage to the neighbourhood.
Shortly after the evacuation her father died at the age of 92, prompting DeGeneres to pay tribute on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
She celebrated her father's long life and lack of judgemental attitude, calling him a "kind and accepting man".
"He had a good long life, and he lived his life exactly how he wanted," DeGeneres said, as the audience was shown a picture of her with her father.
"He was Christian Science his entire life, he never had medicine, never went to a doctor, I never had a vaccination, we never had medicine growing up.
"He was very proud of me, he loved the show, and he was a kind man, a very accepting man, there was not one bone of judgment in his body."
She recalled the only family vacation she took as a child to the Warner Brothers lot where she now works, and said on the day she said goodbye to her father when she left the lot there was a rainbow above the building for her.
"I have my own stage with my name on it, and he was really proud of that," she said
"Before he passed away I got to talk to him, I got to say goodbye to him, and I was leaving the building and I looked back, and there was a rainbow over the Warner Bros studio...
"This [the rainbow] is what I saw after I talked to my dad, and he died 10 minutes later.
"Pretty amazing."
