John Cena is reportedly in negotiations for the role of Duke Nukem in an adaptation of the classic videogame in the works at Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes.
The 40-year-old star of The Marine already has a Bay connection, as he's set to star in upcoming Transformers prequel Bumblebee: The Movie.
Cena being in talks for the role was first reported on by The Hollywood Reporter and Variety.
Duke Nukem was first released in 1991 and centres on the titular hero - a crass, wise-cracking American lothario - violently saving Earth from alien invaders.
Over a dozen sequels or spin-offs have been released.
In addition to his wrestling career and action movies, Cena has appeared in comedies such as Trainwreck and Daddy's Home, along with the animated film Ferdinand.
No writer or director attached the Duke Nukem film has yet been reported on.
