Ms Harvey and her husband Dominic Harvey went through five rounds of IVF and four rounds of artificial insemination using donor sperm before making the difficult call to stop trying.
The problem was with Mr Harvey, who suffers from a condition called retrograde ejaculate which prevents semen coming out properly.
"It's quite emasculating for a man, if he can't get his partner pregnant," she explained.
"And it was a lot of pressure on me, because I knew that he felt really guilty that I had to go through all of that to conceive."
The process of the successive treatments had many ups and downs, and Ms Harvey says she was heartbroken they could not end up being parents.
"It's a roller coaster, there is no better way to describe it, because we rode it for eight years," she said.
"With so many high hopes and glimmers of hope and then ultimately disappointment, that wore us both down."
Jay-Jay and Dom Harvey announced last year that they were filing for divorce, citing a lack of "that magic spark".
