Stan Walker to share life-changing journey in Three documentary

Stan Walker is sharing his most personal story yet in a special feature-length documentary coming to Three, entitled Stan.

In it, the 27-year-old entertainer lets the public in on his most intimate moments over his 'life-changing' past nine months, which have included a number of health scares.

Walker posted on his social media accounts on Wednesday night to let fans know the announcement was coming.

"As an artist, I like to make every situation a creative experience no matter how sh*t it is. There is always much beauty to be found in heartache, loss, pain, trials, tribulations and even sickness," says Walker.

"I have stayed quiet for a while, I've sat back and let many people talk. I've watched assumptions be turned into facts. But soon, I will show you guys what's really been happening."

In late January, Walker's manager confirmed to Newshub he'd been facing "some challenges, healthwise".

In 2017, it was revealed the Hunt for the Wilderpeople star has the same cancer-causing gene mutation his mother has, which has been responsible for the death of at least 25 of their family members.

An estimated four out of five people who have the CDH1 gene mutation will develop stomach cancer.

"What I will say now is that I have a lot to share with you all and I have something special to show you soon," says Walker.

"This thing we call life has taken me to places I would never have expected. I can't wait to share this next chapter with you all."

Stan will be broadcast on Three in March.
