A reported family friend told Vanity Fair Chelsy and the new Duke Of Sussex had a tearful phone conversation prior to his tying the knot with Meghan Markle.
"It was their final call, a parting call in which they both acknowledged Harry was moving on," the source said.
Prince Harry invited both Chelsy and another ex-girlfriend, Cressida Bonas, to the ceremony.
The pair arrived together, but they were not extended an invitation to the more exclusive wedding reception.
"Chelsy was quite emotional about it all, she was in tears and almost didn't go to the wedding," the source said.
"In the end, she went and promised Harry she wouldn't try and gate crash the party."
Chelsy and Harry dated for seven years before splitting in 2011, reportedly because Chelsy found the pressures of royal life too difficult.
Speaking to The Times in 2016, she said, "It was so full-on. Crazy and scary and uncomfortable."
