Air New Zealand has announced an increase in the price of air fare add-ons luggage and flexi time, just a week after posting a record profit.
Three categories of airfare add-on will be rising by $5, taking the additional cost of a seat and bag purchase to $15, FlexiTime to $35 and FlexiPlus to $55.
The increases apply to all A320 domestic routes as well as ATR turboprop services running from Christchurch to Wellington and Christchurch to Dunedin.
An Air New Zealand spokesperson told Newshub the change in price was simply down to a reassessment in the cost of the add-ons.
"We review and adjust pricing on a regular basis, and this change is part of that process," they explained.
On February 27 the airline announced a half-year profit of $323 million, driven by a 5.6 percent operating revenue growth.
At the time, the airline had celebrated the huge profit in spite of an 18 percent increase in the price of fuel.
"This high-quality interim performance was driven by robust passenger demand and revenue growth, reflecting the airline's strong position in New Zealand and throughout our Pacific Rim network," board chairman Tony Carter said.
