In Otago, they enjoy their long summer evenings but when it does get dark, there's also something to enjoy which you would struggle to see from student flats down amongst the street lights.
We're talking about the Aurora Australis, better known as the Southern Lights.
It's the spectacular night show people fly across the world to see. An aurora is a multi-coloured light display that's quite literally out of this world.
It's caused by interaction between stuff from the sun and the earth's magnetic field and some of the best examples are being captured by a group of Aurora hunters in Dunedin.
