A four-year-old boy has died after what police are describing as "a tragic accident" at a childcare centre in Takapuna on Auckland's North Shore.
Police said it appeared the boy died while on playground equipment at Angels Childcare on Anzac St just after 2pm on Friday.
Newshub understands the incident involved a slide and a rope.

The boy's visibly distraught family were being comforted at the scene, and a trauma team from the Ministry of Education was on hand to support staff from the centre.
Worksafe is investigating the incident, and the boy's death has been referred to the coroner.
Police initially said the victim was three years old but later amended this to four.
