Police have arrested a 30-year-old man in relation to the abduction and attack on a woman in Eden Terrace on Monday afternoon.
The man has been charged with aggravated wounding, abduction for the purpose of unlawful sexual connection and indecent assault.
He has also been charged with burglary in relation to a separate incident.
The man was taken into custody just after 8pm on Tuesday.
Auckland Central Police Detective Inspector Aaron Pascoe says the victim is "relieved".
Police released CCTV footage earlier on Tuesday of the car believed to be involved in a bid to find the attacker.
