Taupo police are searching around the Waitahanui River near Te Puke for a missing 75-year-old woman.
Barbara Thompson often drives to the river mouth to fish in the early hours of the morning.
She usually returns by 9am, but hasn't been seen all day and her car is still parked at the river.
She is described as being of slim build with short grey hair, and is approximately 160cm tall.
The Coastguard and Harbourmaster are also assisting in the search.
Police are asking anyone who has seen Ms Thompson today to call them immediately.
