AUT Professor Welby Ings has always been a rebel.
Expelled from school and later suspended from college it's no surprise he wrote a book about disobedience.
But his book "Disobedient Teaching" is about turning the negative into a positive.
It's about how to use the rebel inside of us to challenge norms and change the world.
Not bad for someone who couldn't even read until he was a teenager.
He spoke to Duncan Garner about why he believes our schooling stifles the creativity of kids, and encourages teachers to be disobedient too - by going against the curriculum.
