Friday was International Workers Memorial Day, remembering those who lost their lives while at work.
Around 30 people attended a memorial in Wellington to remember the dead, while in Christchurch 200 people gathered.
Brendon Scheib died after being crushed by an elevator while carrying out repairs.
However WorkSafe cleared Mr Scheib's employer Otis of any wrongdoing.
It's estimated around 60 New Zealander's die from work-related accidents and up to 900 die of work-related illnesses each year.
Now, Mr Scheib's wife is calling on the government to do more to protect others from dangers on the job.
