She broke crowd records at her Auckland shows, now Adele's done what transport bosses can't: make taking the train popular.
The British songstress captured the hearts of more than 130,000 Kiwis during her three Mt Smart Stadium concerts in late march.
She sold nearly 40,000 more tickets than any other artist visiting Auckland with strong demand forcing the erection of temporary grandstands.
Auckland Transport says the night of her first concert on March 23 saw just over 113,000 passengers say 'Hello' to the train that day - 27,000 of whom were heading to see Adele. That figure set a new daily record for the council-run organisation.
Those numbers helped the public transport provider break more records, reaching 19 million passenger trips for the year - an annual increase of 19.4 percent.
A million more passengers trips are being added every three to four months.
"We've added a million more trips in just 117 days and we've seen growth at around that rate for the past two years. This time in 2015 we'd just celebrated 13 million trips," AT Metro operations group manager Brendon Main says.
Public transport patronage totalled just under 87 million passenger boardings for the 12 months to March 2017 - an increase of 6.9 percent on the previous year.
