A North Shore police netball team had to ditch their match midgame to stop a fight on the sideline between two men on Saturday.
A 31-year-old man allegedly assaulted a worker at the Netball North Harbour Courts and has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with intent to injure and common assault.
The officers shared their thoughts of the ordeal on the Waitemata Police's Facebook page.
"It took a couple of minutes to get the guy under control, but we were very lucky that members of the public had come to help us," one officer said on the post.
Although they were partway through their game against the Shore Rovers, they knew they had to help.
"We all just kind of looked at each other and knew that we had to get involved and help so we all just ran off the court," another officer said.
"Where ever we are, whatever we're doing, we'll stop at any time to help anyone, that's how we are in the police, that's what we do," added one of the officers.
They stopped the fight and continued on to win their game.
