New Zealand's largest foodbank faces closure, after being unable to pay its rent.
More than 132 agencies and churches use Christchurch's 0800 Hungry - which also delivers directly to families - with surplus supplies going to low decile schools.
However, it owes more than $30,000 in rent, and must be out by next Thursday.
Bromley School deputy principal Jo Nicholls says the foodbank has helped the school for years.
She is disappointed at the news, as it contributes to their breakfast club and packages for families.
"It's great to be able to have that resource there," she says.
Foodbank volunteer Janice Tricklebank says it will be a huge loss for the community.
"I think it will be dreadful and it blows us down because it's not what we want. We're helping other people. The food is here, so why can't we help?"
