Former New Zealand First MP Ria Bond has suffered the tragic loss of her nephew and his partner, who were killed in a car crash on Sunday evening in Dipton.
"New Zealand First extends its sympathy to former New Zealand First MP Ria Bond, who has been hit with personal tragedy," said party leader Winston Peters.
Ms Bond's nephew was killed as he travelled home from his father's funeral on Sunday at about 9:40pm and his partner was also killed in the crash.
The couple's baby and two-year-old toddler survived the crash, while the driver of the other vehicle was also killed.
Ms Bond did not make it back into Parliament after the latest election, ranked at 12 on the party's list.
