The rest of November will continue to be a scorcher for most of the country.
WeatherWatch.co.nz says high pressure is "locked in" over New Zealand, meaning an increase in still weather and dry, sunny days.
Warmer than average weather across the country is likely to kick off on Wednesday, with Alexandra and Cromwell forecast to hit 28degC. The heat will continue into Thursday, although the afternoon may see clouds and rain.
The North Island will see its fair share of summery weather too, with highs in the Waikato and King Country reaching the mid to late-20s.
Unfortunately the high pressure doesn't mean dryness for everyone. Daily cloud build ups may trigger some big downpours in Otago on Thursday and Friday, which could spread inland for both the North and South Islands by the weekend.
Current calm conditions mean coastal areas such as Auckland and Wellington may experience some cool sea breezes during the day, which could be a blessing in the unusual warmth.
