Dashcam footage captured the dramatic moment a truck jack-knifed on Auckland's Southern Motorway, blocking all northbound lanes from Papakura.
A passing motorist travelling south unintentionally filmed the incident with his dashboard camera, showing the truck hurtling across three lanes with its tyres smoking.
Just after 2:25pm on Monday, police were called to the accident, which occurred between the Papakura and Takanini off-ramps. Police say no-one was hurt.
A temporary lane was opened to clear the vehicles stuck behind the truck after the incident, with police warning motorists to avoid the area if possible.
The road reopened just before 5pm. Traffic is moving again, but is backed up for several kilometres and could take some time to clear.
