A woman has been seriously assaulted while walking to her car in Christchurch's Hagley Park.
Police say a man approached her, assaulted her and stole items from her before running off at around 10:30pm on Thursday.
Police caught the 18-year-old alleged offender in the area a short time after the assault.
He has been charged with aggravated robbery and a number of other charges, and will appear in Christchurch District Court on Friday morning.
The woman was taken to hospital and treated for her injuries after the incident.
