A man has been bitten by a shark in Northland.
The incident happened just after 11am on Saturday morning at Matauri Bay, and involved a mako shark.
The victim was taken to Bay of Islands Hospital, suffering injuries to his arm and leg.
St John confirmed it attended an incident at Matauri Bay, but wouldn't say if it was a shark attack.
It follows an attack in October at Baylys Beach, near Dargaville. The victim's surfboard had puncture holes from the shark's teeth.
