A solo mum is heartbroken after her home was ransacked while she was caring for her young child with RSV.

Sarah Manceswicz's Addington home was burglarized while she was staying with a friend who could drive her to the hospital if her six-month old son's condition worsened,

Manceswicz's son is asthmatic, and contracted RSV.

When she returned to her rental property, she heard the water running, and thought she'd left a tap on. However, she tells Stuff she quickly realised that wasn't the case.

The single mum of two says all of her 3-year-old daughter's toys were stolen, as was her washing machine and dryer. The thieves left a tap on so her laundry room was flooded.

In a Givealittle post, Manceswicz says she is trying to raise money so she and her family can be happy again.

Any money raised will go towards replacing the stolen toys and whiteware, as well as new linen to replace the soaked ones.

"Any surplus will be donated to St Vincent de Pauls or cats protection league," she writes.

The money would also go towards trying to find a new rental home, as she no longer feels safe in her own one.

So far, just over $1600  has been raised.

A police spokesperson told Stuff police suspect the burglary took place between 5.30pm on July 8 and 3.45pm on July 9. She encouraged anyone with information to contact police on 105 or anonymously on 0800 555 111.
