COVID-19: 9975 new community cases, 33 virus-related deaths, 111 people in hospital, seven in ICU

There are 9975 new community cases of the virus and a further 33 COVID-related deaths over the last week, the Ministry of Health has revealed.

The Health Ministry gave the update, which covered the seven-day period from Monday, September 26 to Sunday, October 2, on Monday. 

The Health Ministry said 111 people remained in hospital with the virus, seven of whom were in intensive care.

There are now a total of 2038 deaths confirmed as attributable to COVID-19, either as the underlying cause of death or as a contributing factor. 

Overall, New Zealand has reported over 1.7 million COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began.
