An investigation is underway after a man was found dead on Goat Island beach north of Auckland on Wednesday.
Police said in a statement the man was found unresponsive on the beach at about 11:40am.
The man was confirmed dead when ambulance crews arrived at the scene, the statement said.
An investigation is underway to determine what happened and the Criminal Investigation Branch is at the scene, a police spokesperson said.
