A man has died after being arrested by police for attempting to break into parked cars.
Police said in a statement at 5:45pm on Saturday they were called to deal with a van parked in the middle of an intersection of Mt Albert Road and Dominion Road.
A man had also been seen trying to enter parked cars at the intersection.
Police said the man was taken into custody, however they became concerned with his welfare as he seemed to be suffering from a medical event.
He was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.
Police said their thoughts are with the man's family and loved ones.
The Independent Police Authority has been notified.
