Ever wanted a piece of John Key? Now you can have almost all of him, warts and all, with a carpeted artwork up for sale on Trade Me -- and it's going for a steal.

Whanganui artist Mark Rayner made the framed hand-latched wool piece 'National Rug', measuring 1206mm tall by 830mm wide.

The current bid is sitting at $50.

The comment in February last year was made by Mr Peters during questions about the controversial SkyCity convention centre deal.

At the time, he ambiguously asked whether Mr Key stood by "all" his statements.

"Yes," Mr Key replied, "especially that one yesterday when I said, 'There's no dye in these locks baby.'"

"How come the curtains don't match the carpet?" Mr Peters replied.

"Mr Speaker, I take offence. The member is telling New Zealand he's seen my carpet," Mr Key replied.

The work has already displayed at Seed Gallery in Auckland and Kina Gallery in New Plymouth.

It is not clear whether the depiction of Mr Key is anatomically correct.
