The Kiwi symbol on Meghan Markle's veil

The anticipation around the dress Meghan Markle would wear at the royal wedding was huge - and it was certainly polarising.

For most the Givenchy day gown was either a massive hit or a total miss, with not many sitting on the fence.

It was a classic white dress topped with a long sheer veil, embroidered with flowers representing each Commonwealth country.

That includes New Zealand of course, with our little island nation represented with a including a kōwhai - our unofficial national flower.

Ms Markle wore a second dress - accompanied by Princess Diana's aquamarine ring - later on her wedding day, which was slightly slinkier than her first.

The Stella McCartney fishtail gown incorporated a halter neck and was totally sleeveless.
