Warriors fans desperate to see troubled NRL star Kieran Foran take the field shouldn't get their hopes up.
NRL boss Todd Greenberg told RadioLive's Saturday Sport they have discussed Foran's future with Warrior's management in the lead up to the Nines tournament in Auckland.
No decision over his clearance to take the field has been made and Greenberg doesn't want to see Foran cleared until they're certain he's got his personal life back on track.
"His primary purpose is not about football," said Greenberg.
"I'm less interested about the start of the season and when he starts putting on football boots than I am about his welfare and his ability to make sure that he has his life in order - that comes before any discussion about his football career."
Greenberg admitted many young NRL players go through difficult times and said it's their job to ensure they are protecting the players.
"Mental stability and mental health of a young footballer doesn't happen overnight, and it doesn't happen with the click of your fingers," he said.
"I'll be very carefully listening to the people who know it much better than me - [and] once I'm assured by those professionals, then clearly we'll be looking forward to seeing him back on the field".
Foran watched on as the Warriors crashed out of the NRL Auckland Nines, suffering losses to both of his former sides, the Manly Sea Eagles and the Parramatta Eels.
