Lisa Carrington scoops two-medals at Canoe Sprint World Championships in the Czech Republic

Kiwi paddler Lisa Carrington's started her medal haul at the Canoe Sprint World Championships with a gold and a silver.

The 28-year-old from Tauranga finished second in the K1 500 metres final, just under point-three of a second behind the winner from Belarus.

Carrington then backed up to win gold in the K2 500 metres final with partner Caitlin Ryan.

"A few months ago, I didn't really know I was going to do this event, so I've only been training with Caitlin for a few months," said Carrington.

"This is why we do all the training that we do and I've been preparing for this for a while, so I just had to trust the process really."

Carrington can take her medal tally to four after making her specialist K1 200 metres final and the K4 500 metres final with Ryan, Kayla Imrie, and Amee Fisher.
