Kiwi centre Steven Adams has missed out on selection for the annual NBA All Star game.
The midseason exhibition showcases the league's premier talent, with its starters voted for inclusion by public ballot.
Although the Oklahoma City Thunder stand-out wasn't selected for a starting berth, there was still a strong chance he'd be added to the list of seven reserve forwards for the Western Conference nominated by NBA head coaches.
Despite his breakthrough season to date, the 24-year-old was beaten out by resurgent Spurs big LaMarcus Aldridge, Warriors lynchpin Draymond Green, and 2015/16 Rookie of the Year Karl-Anthony Towns.
Adams currently leads the league in offensive rebounds with an average of five per game, and is third in field-goal percentage, making almost 65 per cent of his shot attempts.
The All Star weekend takes place in Los Angeles on the weekend of February 18 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, home of the Clippers and the Lakers.
